Things That Are Real of the Day: Looking for a way to keep your dog entertained in your absence? Introducing DOGTV — cable’s first 24/7 TV channel for canines.
According to its founders, DOGTV is “designed as the perfect babysitter for dogs who have to stay home alone.” It features three types of programming aimed at relaxing or stimulating dogs, which in turn “helps prevent mental fatigue, depression and boredom.”

I just watched the whole thing and I suggest you do the same. Sure, the idea of a network geared towards dogs seems like a good idea now, but this network is just going to be a platform that seeks to make dogs more image-conscious and materialistic. I’m kind of against it.
Also, I’m reminded of this exchange from the movie Scrooged…
Preston: Do you know how many cats there are in this country?
Frank: No, ummmm…I don’t have…no.
Preston: Twenty-seven million. Do you know how many dogs?
Frank: …in America?
Preston: Forty-eight million. We spend four billion on pet food alone.
Frank: Four…?!
Preston: I have a study which shows that cats and dogs are beginning to watch television. If these scientists are right, we should start programming right now. Within years, they could become steady viewers.
Frank: Programming…for cats?
Preston: Walk with me, Frank.
